Springfield Singers proudly celebrates Dr. Tom Matrone's 15th season as Artistic Director!
Dr. Tom Matrone began his tenure as Artistic Director of Springfield Singers in 2011, continuing the ensemble's longstanding tradition of choral excellence. The 2026–2027 season marks his 15th season at the podium, an important milestone in the organization's history.
Throughout his tenure, Dr. Matrone has led Springfield Singers into an exciting new era, elevating not only the ensemble's musical artistry but also its reputation and standing in the choral community. Under his leadership, the choir has continued to grow and evolve, embracing new musical challenges while honoring the rich tradition of excellence established by those who came before him. His artistic vision, high standards, and passion for choral music have helped shape Springfield Singers into the ensemble it is today.
An important part of this musical journey has been the partnership he shares with his wife, Dar Matrone, who serves as the ensemble's accompanist. Together, Tom and Dar bring a shared dedication to musical excellence, with Dar's artistry at the keyboard providing an essential foundation for the choir's rehearsals and performances. Their musical partnership has been a treasured part of the Springfield Singers experience.
Yet Tom's influence extends well beyond the concert stage. His dedication to the singers themselves, his ability to inspire their best, and his commitment to the shared joy of making music have left a lasting impression on the organization and those who have had the privilege of singing under his direction.
As Springfield Singers celebrates his 15th season, we recognize not simply the passing of years, but the remarkable impact of his leadership. His tenure represents a defining chapter in the ensemble's history—one marked by artistic growth, renewed distinction, and a vision for the future.
We celebrate Dr. Matrone with deep appreciation for all he has brought to Springfield Singers and the musical legacy he continues to build.
